His overall win at the Int. 55th Hill Climb Race Osnabrück in August meant a lot to Swiss car dealer Marcel Steiner, in sporting terms as well as emotionally. After all, Uphöfener Berg has almost been Marcel’s local hill for many years; he and his team have many friends here and he is even a member of MSC Osnabrück. A few weeks ago he crowned his season at Gurnigel in Switzerland, winning the 2023 Swiss hill climb championship. He is one of the pioneers in hill climb who have moved to synthetic fuel, which is largely CO2 neutral, and his success demonstrates that environmentally friendly fuels may well have a future in hill climb racing.
